Earthcare recycling is a simple and effective system for at source collection and separation of builders waste. Earthcare recycling has developed the concept of ??at source separation?, utilising 6 colour coded bins or bags.

In 2010 the amount of construction and demolition waste being recycled was the lowest in the nation at only 29. There were many reasons for this, but the principal one was the landfill levy. The impact on the environment was enormous with important quantities of materials going to landfill, that could have been reused. At about that time the Waste Authority commenced some new initiatives and this combined with a substantial enlarge in the landfill levy started to foster builders to recycle. Listed under is the amount of waste generated from a typical residential house construction: The first is where the builder and their trades place all material in a massive pile at the fore of the fresh home and then three or four times throughout the construction this is collected using a truck and bobcat and it is then sent to landfill. This method is decreasing due to the costs of landfill however it quiet accounts for a significant portion of the market. The second method is where large skip bins are placed on site and typically three or four 10m 3 bins are impaired during the construction. The trades are requested to deposit the extra material in the bins. Additionally, trucks and bobcats are impaired throughout the construct to retain the site clean. There are a number of variations on this mode with either smaller or larger bins some are focused on light waste and recyclables and others with hinged lids. That is that they are re separated and sorted with materials to be crushed and reused where possible. The third method is atsourceseparation and currently EC is the only company that seeks to get the trades to divide the material into the right color coded bins. As a result of all the initiatives over the final few years the recycling rates in WA are now in excess of 60 and will only amplify further. The resist will now be to start behavior change so that less materials are ordered and therefore less waste material generated.

In 2010 three trivial business owners joined forces to create a business that would change the way builders' waste from fresh home construction was managed. They created a unique business model that was based on at source separation rather than offside separation of materials. Earthcare Recycling has enabled the builders to lessen the amount of ordering, decrease the amount of waste and recycle over 90 of the waste they generate. Incorporating development based builder’s storage yard or material recovery centers, the waste materials are collected and processed for reuse in the development or offside recycling. EC was created in 2010 with the goal of recycling or reusing or minimizing the waste generated from new home construction. The owners have created a business that is focused on sustainability in its business operations, but importantly for its customers and therefore the community. The Earthcare Recycling initiative developed out of a pilot project funded through the Waste Authority for the Vale project close Ellen brook in 2008. The results of the pilot project provided the viability of recycling of builders’ waste, with a focus on at source separation’ but there were meaningful behavioral change aspects that required addressing. Importantly, the waste generated was measured and the builders were qualified to see the benefits of having a locally based compound where they could deposit materials. The beginning is where the builder and their trades place all material in a big pile at the front of the new home and then three or four times throughout the construction this is collected using a truck and bobcat and it is then sent to landfill. The second method is where large skip bins are placed on site and typically three or four 10m 3 bins are old during the construction. The trades are requested to deposit the additional material in the bins. Additionally, trucks and bobcats are used throughout the build to retain the site clean. As a result of all the initiatives over the end scanty years the recycling rates in WA are now in surplus of 60 and will only amplify further. The challenge will now be to initiate behavior change so that less materials are ordered and therefore less waste material generated. In 2008 he commenced an innovation process with the development of insignificant bins and a recycling truck for builders waste. Tim managed the business and is clearly an expert in all matters concerning earthworks, waste management, trucks, bobcats, screening and crushing. Mic Huron is our operator in Baldivis and has been with the company for many years. In any new product, system or company there are lots of initial roadblocks, Mic was qualified to overcome these and disclose to all builders and trades that the EC system was unique, div
